CUMC Run Team To Participate in the Harrisburg Marathon to Raise Funds for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House in Honor of Owen Bonn

On November 10, 10 individuals from Carlisle United Methodist Church (CUMC) will participate in the 2019 Harrisburg Marathon. CUMC will have two relay teams of 4 members each and two runners who will run the entire length of the marathon (26.2 miles). The 2 individuals are Dave Yearsley and Gary Ankabrandt.

All the CUMC marathon participants enjoy running for fun, for exercise, and, at times, for the competition (even if, most times, the competition is seeing if we can better our running times). But the CUMC Team decided to run this time in honor of Owen Bonn, a young boy who attends CUMC with his family. We have been witnesses to how Owen and his family have handled the adversity of his disease. Through our participation, we want to encourage them and show our love and support for them. This event also gives church members who are not running the opportunity to participate and show their support through donations to the charity selected by the Bonn family and the CUMC Run Team.
The Bonn family and the CUMC Run Team have chosen to raise funds for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, as Owen and his family have spent many nights at the Philadelphia RMH when Owen needed to go to Philadelphia for medical evaluations, treatments and surgeries.
At CUMC, our vision is “Living like Jesus improves our lives, our families, the Carlisle community and beyond.” At Carlisle United Methodist Church, we strive to "LIVE LIKE JESUS.” As a church and as the CUMC Run Team, we believe our participation in the Harrisburg Marathon in honor of Owen Bonn and to raise funds for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House shows the love of Jesus and will improve lives, families and community.
